The Royal House is truly a home from home. In fact, it used to be our family home until we decided it was time to let our guests enjoy it. With its own private driveway, you will find the house tucked away behind a formal yew hedge surrounded by ancient beech trees. Inside, the house is both child-friendly and elegant. With its high ceilings and tall windows, light fills every room and everywhere there are magnificent views of the gardens and fields beyond. Closer to home, the walls are decorated with paintings by local artists.

Should you wish to come as an extended family or with some friends, the Royal House can be opened up to include the Lawn Apartment both upstairs and downstairs to make a much larger property. The dining table in the Royal House is large enough to accommodate you all as well. So ideal for a special occasion; anniversairy or during the festive season. Please note, if you decide to bring a dog, there is an extra charge of £50 per dog per week.

Downstairs

The open-plan kitchen/diner is a real family kitchen with plenty of room for cooking and a dining table large enough for sociable meals. The slate-floored fitted kitchen has an integral dishwasher, fridge, oven and hob. It also has a gas Aga and a double-sided wood-burning stove. A 24" TV and a radio/CD and an iPod player complete the picture. The oak dining table and chairs easily seats eight and can seat more when needed. A separate utility room houses another sink, a Zanussi washing machine, and a freezer, as well as a comfortable home for a dog. (There's a tumble dryer in the Laundry Room opposite Reception should you need it.) French doors from the kitchen/diner open onto a sunny private terrace, partly shaded by an old acacia tree. The large patio table with reclining chairs and parasol are the perfect location for breakfast, lunch, or even a barbecue after a day at the beach.

The spacious, elegant drawing room, with its sparkling chandeliers and heavy silk curtains, has comfy sofas seating eight, a 42" flat screen TV with Sky non-subscription channels and a DVD player. In winter, you can relax in front of the open fire and in summer, fling open the French doors and enjoy the views from the balcony. The equally large playroom (6.5 x 5m) is just next door. It's stuffed with toys and games for children - and adults when the mood takes them.

Upstairs

Climb the wide, sweeping staircase and you will find three light, spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super kingsize bed (L210cm x W188cm) with an en suite shower room. The second bedroom has a magnificent pair of Belgian antique walnut single beds which can be fitted together (if you ask us) to form a double bed 220cm long and 174cm wide. There is also room for a cot if you need one. The third bedroom is a children's room with bunk beds (L190cm x W90cm each), a separate single bed (L190cm x W90cm) and room for a cot too. The stylish family bathroom with bath and shower is just along the landing next to the children's room.
