Welcome to Lower Coombe Royal... a magnificent Devon country house set within its own private valley of eight acres near the sea.   We offer you green elegance alongside peace and tranquillity as well as adventure and surprises in our beautiful gardens, all within five minutes’ walk of the amenities of Kingsbridge.

There are four luxury five star eco-friendly self catering cottages and apartments in one of the most secluded yet convenient settings in the South Hams. The cottages are available for weekly holidays or short breaks (off season) and are able to accommodate from two to twenty two people.

Each cottage has been recently renovated to a high interior design specification, offering superb luxury and comfort. All open straight out onto the magnificent eight acre gardens, largely planted in the 19th Century and full of camellias and more exotic flowers, shrubs and trees. The gardens have featured on BBC Devon on three occasions and have been named the 'lost gardens of Kingsbridge'.  They are well suited to plant lovers and children who love to romp and play in a safe environment.

A short walk beyond the private gardens is the market town of Kingsbridge, where you can sample the local restaurants, pubs and a variety of shops selling local produce.  Lower Coombe Royal is also ideally situated for Thurlestone, Salcombe, Totnes and Dartmouth. Close by is a selection of varied and stunning Blue Flag beaches with great surfing, with sailing opportunities and renowned Venus organic cafes, all close by. These and many other forms of entertainment and amusement are set in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the coastal path and only slightly more distant, the rugged walks on Dartmoor, will easily entertain you for a week or two!

Lower Coombe Royal is a committed member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and has been accredited with a Gold award after the first six months of opening. Our Coach House has featured on the Sky Travel Channel 261, 'How to Holiday Greener' and the gardens have featured in Devon Life and Country Living. Organically, locally sourced and home grown produce and supplies are provided for each holiday cottage and apartment.  This includes the welcome hamper, linen, towels and toiletries that will greet you on your arrival and our home grown fruit and vegetables when in season, through to the cleaning products that we use.

For your own comfort, we do not accept smoking inside the properties and we regret we do not allow dogs or other pets.
