At Lower Coombe Royal, we are passionate about working with the planet, rather than against it. We have a policy of working with local people and buying locally. We also grow some of our own organic fruit for our guests to enjoy!

Our ‘Jewel in the Crown’, the eight acres of gardens, has always been organic throughout the centuries, and so we continue to garden organically. Our Estate Manager, Richard, is also passionate about the garden project at Lower Coombe Royal. You will meet Richard as he is also here to look after our guests needs too! The gardens also provide a place for children to safely and happily play, in a way that many of us has forgotten!

Each of our cottages and apartments has been carefully and beautifully restored and interior designed with the environment as well as our guests comfort in mind. From the beginning we have worked with local people to make it happen. We have used FSC wood, insulated to a very high standard and used double glazing in new windows and are slowly restoring old sash windows with a draft proof system. A biomass boiler has been installed in the Coach House along with solar panels.

The accommodation has been furnished eclectically with quality old pieces and some new; beds made from sustainable wood sources, organic mattresses, linen, throws and towels. All this is complimented with organic toiletries and our huge food hamper consisting entirely of local produce.
