We have just recevieved a wonderful peice of feedback from an enquirer (who subsequently booked):

''I've been searching for what feels like hours to find toddler friendly accommodation that has a bit of luxury for us parents too! There's not much out there, so it's been refreshing reading your website. ''

So remember you can stay with us and relax as parents as our philosophy is to provide lots of toys in and out so that the children will be happy allowing the parents to have some R&R and in luxury accommodation and surroundings!

Glowing feedback!

Glowing feedback!

Monday 1st December 2014

We have been in business now for over 9 years - amazing! I felt the need to share some absolutely fabulous feedback we received from a guest last week. Here it is:

''How well thought out the experience was from end to end. Everything was considered, planned for and accommodated from the sheets in the baby’s crib, to the welcome basket, to the informative and helpful onsite manager. The level of catering for a family with small children was remarkable and like nothing I’ve experienced or heard of, only hoped for. The level of housekeeping and support from the on-site manager was first rate. Attentive but not intrusive, informative and interesting, available and highly responsive.''

This is what our team works really hard to achieve as we set high standards and are passionate about our philosophy of discrete customer service. The same guests (and many others!) have posted even more on TripAdvisor here:

Happy guests!

Happy guests!

Saturday 5th April 2014

Had to share some feedback we have received from guests who departed yesterday:

It was really nice to be comfortable away from home, and not to have to pack absolutely everything for our toddler. It was lovely to receive the hamper on arrival, and to find everything beautifully prepared for our stay in the Garden Rooms. We loved the gardens – the weather wasn’t that great but they still looked beautiful, and it was a very tranquil place to stay. Our daughter particularly enjoyed the baby swing, we had a hard time getting her out of it! Stayed in the Garden Rooms

Yes, we enjoyed our stay very much it was excellent. Graham was very helpful and pleasant. We would like to come and stay again. My daughter thought you have put a lot into what people want.We just loved the feel of the place so relaxing. Stayed in the Lawn Apartment

And remember you can always check us out on TripAdvisor!

Spring has Sprung!

Spring has Sprung!

Thursday 27th March 2014

Ella (our dog!) and I took a long walk around our gardens in our really warm valley yesterday and they are stunning just now! I can only attach one photo here yet you can see more on our Facebook page...where you can like us if you haven't already!!

The magnolias are blooming, there are camelias everywhere - see the photo - the detail of the petals is so intricate. Daffodils and primoses in abundance and carpets of azalea and camelia flowers in the woods is so romantic...I will stop now yet if you can make it - come and see for yourselves!

Saturday 8th March 2014

It was really heart-warming to wander around the gardens and see many camellias, daffodils and primulas flowering! It is often 3 or 4 degrees warmer in this part of South Devon. So if you need a lift from the drudgeries of our wet winter - come and stay and enjoy our wonderful gardens and the stunning coast line.

Stormy weather damage...

Monday 24th February 2014

Well we were not effected by the floods yet a large old pine tree decided to fall with a tremendous noise blocking in some guests! No one was hurt though. Graham came to the rescue and took our guests into Kingsbridge for supper and brought them home too! Service with a smile I think!

What a Glorious week it has just been with beautiful clear blue skies and temperatures getting up to 24c. The warm weather has brought so many things into bloom with most of the Magnolias in full display and some of the Cherry trees now starting to flower.

Autumn

Autumn

Wednesday 19th October 2011

After a couple of weeks of lovely warm 'Indian Summer' weather, it really does feel like Autumn is now here with night time temperatures now dropping below 5c. The Oak trees seem to be hanging onto their leaves a lot longer than any of the other trees. The Estate now has beautiful shades of green and brown everywhere with the Hydrangeas still giving us some wonderful white and blue blooms. The fruit of the Cornus capitata are just starting to ripen which will give the Blackbirds and Thrushes a fantastic feast towards the end of the season and into the beginning of Winter.

Thursday 1st September 2011

I think Autumn is going to be early this year. Leaves are already starting to turn and fall. Our Moorhen family are thriving this year with 6 offspring having survived but still very shy and not giving me many opportunities to photograph them.

New Life

New Life

Wednesday 27th July 2011

It would appear that our pair of Moorhens, which now seem to have taken up permanent residency, are having much more success rearing young this year. Not only have 3 survived from their first brood, which are now almost the same size as their parents, but they have now had a second brood of 4.

Communal BarBQ Area

Communal BarBQ Area

Saturday 16th July 2011

The redevelopment of our old Glasshouse into a Communal BarBQ area is moving forward nicely now. Dave, our very skilled carpenter, has now completed all of the new timber work, with Cedar shingle roof and cladding to the covered area and a very large (and heavy!) custom made BarBQ canopy and flu in place. Now for a new floor, a large double brick built BarBQ, a coat of paint to the brickwork and planting out of Culinary herbs for our guests to pick and use at their leisure. Alfresco dining in a fantastic setting.

A quick update

Saturday 4th June 2011

While I have been enjoying a few days off, Dave, our carpenter, has been hard at work constructing all of the timber frame work for our new Communal barbeque area. It's really starting to look how we had envisaged. Unfortunately, it looks as though our Moorhens have lost 3 of their chicks, however, the 4 remaining chicks are growing quite rapidly, no longer little balls of black fluff!

Communal Barbeque Area

Thursday 26th May 2011

Having now received Planning permission, work starts in earnest to turn our poor old derelict glasshouse into a wonderful timber framed, cedar shingle roofed barbeque area. All being well and weather permitting, this will be ready to use for those warm and sunny summer holidays!

April 2011

April 2011

Friday 6th May 2011

What a wonderfully warm few weeks we have had. A really nice welcome start to the season, especially after such a cold Winter. It meant that all the guests that were here over Easter got to spend some really fantastic days on the beaches. Everything is looking really green and lush now with all the trees in leaf. The Camellias and Magnolias have sadly finished now, but the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are giving us a wonderful display of colours.

March 2011

March 2011

Tuesday 29th March 2011

What a wonderful start to the Spring. The last couple of weeks have seen some lovely warm sunny days which have helped to bring out the Camellias, some of the Magnolias and Rhododendrons, giving us a fantastic display of early colour. The warm days have brought the Buzzards out in force with half a dozen of them soring over head. A couple of fallen conifers have been removed this month allowing us to view a wonderful delicate maple which will give us a beautiful yellow display this Autumn.

December 2010

December 2010

Saturday 1st January 2011

Well, what can I say. The coldest December in over a century!

The Cornus capitata have provided a wonderful and valuable feast for all the birds this month when other food has been so scarce with the ground frozen and covered in snow or ice for quite some time.

On a positive note, the snow did provide me with some really good photographic opportunities with Lower Coombe Royal being turned into a 'Winter Wonderland' on a couple of occasions.

Richard's Blog

Saturday 4th December 2010

The display of changing colours at the beginning of the month was fantastic. November started out relatively mild but soon got very cold with some days not even getting above 0c.
The Maple on the side of the pond gave us its wonderful annual 'Red carpet' display.
I've made a start this month on clearing, opening up and tidying a couple of areas, with the entrance to the American garden being opened up and some severe(!) pruning of Camellias behind the Royal House to improve the view of our 'Tree Fuchsia', Fuchsia excorticata and our 'Winter Bark', Drimys winterei.

October garden blog

Tuesday 26th October 2010

Autumn seemed to be quite slow coming in after the lovely warm September that we had had. Then suddenly the winds and rain were upon us bringing leaves down in their thousands, with the Maple by the pond providing us with the most beautiful red carpet.
I've written before about sightings of wild deer in the grounds but had never actually seen them myself. Well at the beginning of this month that changed. Whilst waiting for some guests who were arriving late, as dusk was starting to fall, around 6pm, I had the most fantastic sighting of two Roe deer just at the entrance to the woodland by the Coach House. This job just gets more and more wonderful.
